Guild Charter

I. Introduction

Black Dragon Legion is an Everquest guild on the Luclin server. The guild is designed to cater to a mature and respectful membership, with an emphasis on casual gameplay. We aim to foster a supportive community where players of all skill levels can thrive and enjoy EverQuest. The guild as a whole promotes teamwork and respect for each other, valuing individual contributions while prioritizing the success of the guild as a whole.

“Mature” should be meant as an indicator of adult sensibilities such as civility, respect for others and disdain for drama, not as a reference to explicit, lascivious or generally offensive content. BDL permits members of all ages, but assumes no responsibility for language or other adult content within guild communications, whether in-game, in Discord, or on this website. Parents should also recognize that even though some members have children around, consideration of mixed company can be expected (watch your language).

“Casual” should be interpreted to mean a very limited set of responsibilities and expectations placed upon regular members, and that the guild is designed for fellowship amongst members without emphasis on particular gameplay styles. While we are not specialized in raiding or any other style of gameplay, members with such interests are supported, and in fact encouraged to develop these aspects with one another within the Norrathian Council of Guilds.

While the rules or policies defined herein are intentionally limited, and subject to change or revision, all members are responsible for conduct and behavior in accordance with these and the Daybreak EULA/ToS, and membership in BDL constitutes agreement.

II. Guild Values

  • Honor: Upholding fairness and integrity in all our interactions.

  • Loyalty: Standing by our guildmates and supporting each other through thick and thin.

  • Respect: Treating others with dignity and courtesy, regardless of their experience or role, fostering a positive environment.

  • Dedication: Applying ourselves diligently to improve individually, as a guild & community.

  • Community: Recognizing that we are stronger together, fostering a sense of camaraderie and belonging.

  • Experienced Leadership: Seasoned veterans guide the guild, offering mentorship and strategic direction.

  • Active Community: Chat, group up, and forge lasting friendships with fellow members.

  • Social Events: Guild contests, trivia nights, and more - there's always something fun happening!

  • Passionate: We love EverQuest and are dedicated to exploring all it has to offer.

  • Teamwork-Oriented: We believe in achieving greatness together, supporting each other through every challenge.

III. BDL History

Black Dragon Legion boasts a rich past with its legacy etched in the 'early days' of Everquest. Founded in 2008, the guild quickly rose in membership, renowned for its family-friendly orientation, past achievements, notable helpful members and unique characteristics.

Detailed Guild History - in progress...

....The legacy of BDL lives on.

Our family-style, casual nature as a guild necessitates being light on rules. However, to ensure a broadly agreeable environment for its members, certain rules of conduct do exist, and each member is expected to abide by them. While it is our desire to retain each and every member, leadership reserves the right to expel any member based on misconduct, inappropriate behavior, significant conflicts, or for any other reasons deemed necessary.

  • All members must behave towards one another in a respectful manner. Our guild is our online “family”; treat one another well.

  • All members should strive to represent the guild in a positive manner, in speech and behavior. We do not expect our members to be saints, but we do expect them to have consideration & use common courtesy. This should be a defining characteristic of how our guild is perceived by the public.

  • All members will seek resolution to issues through the established leadership of officers.

  • All members must abide by Discord-specific rules outlined in section VI.

Our goal is to be as free of rules as possible, but this is often made difficult by certain personalities who find their way into the guild. These are the minimum standards of behavior, which should be more than agreeable to any respectable member. Questions should be forwarded to an Officer in-game or via Discord.

IV. BDL General Membership Responsibilities

Regular Members enjoy the minimum set of rules and responsibilities. Aside from the shared General Code of Conduct, these generally only include very light assistance with guild organization by making sure that all characters (toons) are correctly identified and noted on our guild roster, and that your discord nickname is the same as your declared primary toon.

All members will identify and report a “Main” toon to an Officer, who will in turn ensure that all alts are appropriately tagged with a member note that identifies the main toon. This is an aid to organize the roster that allows all members to know who is who when online, and for Officers to promote members accordingly when the required criteria are met. Officers are trained in what information is required and the entry formats used. Members are permitted to change their declared main, but are asked to refrain if possible, as this creates a bit of administrative work for Officers (and with hundreds of members, this can be a time-consuming task).

All members are expected to use the guild bank, and armory, and great guild hall freely and responsibly. Generating additional work for officers to sort and/or determine which items should be placed, having anchors of retired characters, placing one item multiple times that can be stacks, should be avoided.

Policies

  1. Keep guild chat PG; please refrain from  divisive political, religious, sexual, racial, ect. banter and/or discussions or arguments.

  2. Play nice.  This means do not train others.  Do not camp-jack or KS other players.  In general don't do things to other players that you would not like being done to you. Toxic behavior of any kind is unacceptable resulting in a immediate guild removal and permanent ban.

Above all, this is a game; period.  Everyone here pays their own way to play; that being said no one should feel they have to do anything other than enjoy their play time.  While it is nice to help others, no one should have to drop what they're doing to help with someone's issues (named, mission, grind, etc), or give-up/pass on loot drops.   Help each other if you can and you want to, that is what a guild is all about.  If you are in need of help, by all means ask in guild chat or in tells; there is always someone willing to lend a hand. Do not beg or spam for handouts, tasks-adds, groups, quests, loots or currency. ( pro tip: ‘ please and thank you are key for the win.‘ )  Most of all, have fun while you are in the game.

V. BDL Rank Structure

  1. Leader (Co-Leader) - Oversees all guild operations, sets the guild's direction, and serves as its public face.

  2. Senior Officers - council member recruit, several guild tasks ++

  3. Officers - recruit help w some several guild responsibility

  4. Recruiter - remote temp position

  5. Member - guild liaison, scout

  6. Junior Members - probation

  7. Egg - disciplinary?

VI. Discord

As mentioned earlier, use of discord/and/or/in-game-guild-voice-chat is highly encouraged for all members. This is based on the conviction of the founding members that use of a voice communication is indispensable to the creation of the type of guild desired, one that might foster lasting and loyal friendships. For those members who have not used Discord before, it is our firm belief that it adds a very significant dimension to gaming with friends, one that should not be neglected. Once again, however, it is not required at the Member levels.

Rules for BDL Discord:

  • In an effort to maintain clarity for all users as to who is whom on the Discord server, all participants should use their Main character as your Discord username. An acceptable alternative may be to use the name of an alternate character that is in regular use and is well known by the membership, but the member should note the Main character name in parenthesis. For example, when signing on as a BDL Discord user for the first time, a member would create their name as such: “Mikeo (Reboh)”. Contact any Officer for assistance, if needed.

  • Members using Discord should be respectful of others at all times.

  • As a simple matter of courtesy, members participating in group activity (game specific missions, etc.) must use a Group sub-channel within sub-channels.

  • Only Officers may occupy the Officer sub-channel, unless members are invited there for discussion with an Officer.

This charter is a living document, subject to change as the guild grows. Any proposed changes will be discussed and voted upon by the membership.
